The Richard I. Bong World War II Heritage Center was created to honor and remember all those who fought and died, worked and waited during World War II. From the moment you walk through our doors, you will travel back to a time when ordinary people became extraordinary heroes.

FIFTH ANNUAL FUND-RAISING AUCTION SET!

Plan to join us for our 5th annual benefit dinner and auction. this year's event will again be held at Grandma's Sports Garden, in Duluth, with a gourmet meal catered by Bellisio's. invite your friends to share a table with you-seating is limited so gather your group together now and plan to attend.

NEW EXHIBITS

"The Navigator’s Art: Don Herold's WWII Cartoon Envelopes" presents unique envelope artwork sent home to Eagle River by Navigator-in-training Don Herold. Following the war Herold worked as a freelance commercial artist. His most notable account was drawing artwork for the Green Giant frozen foods company.

"Trench Art" This small exhibit presents several examples of WWII Trench Art crafted by servicemen, POWs and civilians. Lower level opposite the elevator.

1:00 PM "Combat Vessels of the Twin Ports" Jerry Sandvick presents a program on locally-built small combatant vessels. Free to the public. Heritage Center classroom.

Saturday December 6, 2008
1:00 PM "The First Shot Club" Ron Flesvig presents a video on the first shots fired at Pearl harbor by the USS Ward. Free to the public. Heritage Center classroom.
