February 19, 2005 over 150 people gathered to honor and hear first hand accounts from ten survivors of the battle of Iwo Jima. Survivors included Marines, Navy, Army and Army Air Corps veterans The day marked the 60th anniversary of the initial assault on the strategically located Pacific island. Veterans reminisced about their experiences to an audience that included many children - all listening intently to each veteran that spoke. The program ended with a standing ovation for these heroic WWII veterans.
